Particle bombardment

Popularly known as 'gene shooting', particle bombardment is a direct gene delivery method that allows transformation in both dicots and monocots. Particle bombardment offers an exceptionally wide range of transfer characteristics that are difficult to achieve by any other transfer method.

The process involves the inflow of helium with high-velocity, acceleration of DNA coated micro-projectiles, penetrating into cell membrane and delivery of DNA molecules into living cell.
